The United States government was originally ran under the Articales of Confederation. Over time it was noticed that the federal government was to weak to govern each individual state, which led to several proposals for reform and eventually led to the constitutional convention. In the summer of 1787 delegates from all 12 states came together to form and write the constitution and from then on the United States was forever changed. One of the main problems with the Articles of Confederation was the federal government was to weak to govern the states under it. The Constitution delegated widespread power to the central government, but still gave many powers to the individual states. During the convention in Philadelphia, the delegates god rid of the Articles of Confederation and the first Constitution and created what is known today The Constitution. The most successful difference between this Constitution and the old one was it delegats exstensive powers to the central government, primarily economic and war powers, but still reserved many powers for the individual states.
